Company History
Viking Canal Boats are a family-owned company founded in 2008. We mainly build wide beam canal boats, followed by unique barges and narrowboats. Since our conception, we are gradually expanding our operations to satisfy an increasing demand for our vessels.
Our main office is based in Chelmsford, Essex, where we coordinate all sales, maintenance, and service activities.
Our boatyard is in Kodrabek, Poland, close to the German border and the Baltic Sea. We are not far from the Szczecin Airport that Ryanair services from Stansted Airport. We actively encourage our customers to visit the yard to discover our attention to detail and meet our team.
Viking Canal Boats Ltd was a member of the British Marine Federation.
Why are we called Viking?
The Viking’s shipyard is located in the vicinity of the town of Wolin, where the ancient fort of Jomborg / Vineta was situated. According to the Nordic sagas Jomsborg, a semi-legendary Viking stronghold existed between the 960s and 1043.
With the Viking name, we guarantee that our canal boats, each one distinctly decorated with a dragon head, will proudly serve our clients as the Vikings’ long boats served them.

Our bespoke designs and craftsmanship have become Viking's trademark, and we will continue delivering boats of a quality that everyone will immediately recognise and admire.

Year by year, we continue to improve our constructions, and we aim to maintain the highest possible level of after-sales service.
